Owner Luz Tapia Our part-time client coordinator, Luz, is originally fromTexas and moved here to Kansas in 2015. She is currently attending KU to obtain a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. Luz grew up with many pets including cats, dogs, and hamsters. As a child, she had a kitty named Pepper who she adored. Luz joined the Cedar Creek Pet Hospital family in March of 2019 with the intention of spending more time with animals. She loves seeing all of the pets that come through our front doors on a daily basis! Because Luz is working hard in school, you’ll only see her a couple of times a week at the front desk, but she is sure to make your visit a good one! Jeni Reardon One of our full-time technicians, Jeni, graduated from Brown Mackie College with an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science, specializing in Veterinary Technology. She knew from a young age that she wanted a career in the veterinary field and she is perfect for the job! Jeni is clearly passionate about pets; she has 3 dogs and 3 cats all ranging in age from 1 to 15 years old! Some of her hobbies include reading, crocheting, crafting, and anything that involves Harry Potter. We are thrilled to have Jeni on our team! Laura Mossman Our full-time boarding caretaker, Laura, became part of our crew in February of 2019. She has lots of experience with animals and works at Deanna Rose Farmstead when she isn’t here pampering our boarding and day play pups! She grew up with two Border Collies, an American Cocker Spaniel, and a pet rabbit. These days, Laura has an awesome Belgian Malinois Lab mix named Reggie. In her free time, she enjoys building model kits and playing video games. Upon meeting Laura you’ll notice that she is naturally gifted with animals. She’s perfect person to care for your pets while you’re away! Samantha Blakeley Our full-time client coordinator, Samantha, joined us in September of 2018. She has been working with animals as a pet-sitter and dog-walker for about ten years. When she’s not at Cedar Creek Pet Hospital, Samantha enjoys taking her family pups, Chico and Taz, to the dog park. She also likes to spend time with her six siblings, training martial arts, yoga, and reading. Two years ago, Samantha began working as a veterinary technician and receptionist and she loves it! Her favorite part about working at the vet is getting to interact with clients and their furry friends throughout the day. She is a great addition to the hospital team! Dr. Marlo Showalter Dr. Marlo Showalter is a veterinarian at Cedar Creek Pet Hospital. She received both an Animal Science degree and doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. She can’t remember a time when caring for animals wasn’t part of her life. Growing up on a dairy farm in northeast Kansas, she gained her appreciation of veterinary medicine through watching, learning and assisting a local veterinarian. She admired a veterinarian’s connection with people, in the community, through the partnering of animal care and healing. These observations of commonality among people, who desire to have companion animals and provide them with good care, lead her to veterinary medicine. She developed a passion to improve the human-animal bond by maintaining a healthy, happy pet to maximize the human’s enjoyment of their pet. Dr. Showalter hopes she has passed on her love of animals to her two awesome children, Paige and Peyton. Outside of work she enjoys training her dogs M and Caine. She also likes hiking and music.
Dr. Showalter is a member of AVMA, Kansas Veterinary Medical Association, and licensed in Kansas. Kelsie Ray Our lead technician, Kelsie, has been with us since August of 2018. She grew up on a farm just East of Lawrence. On her farm she had horses, cows, dogs, cats and anything that needed love. Kelsie saved birds, rabbits, and even a skunk. Now, she lives with two dogs, Cash and Little Dog, and three cats, Moe, Moxie and Willie. In 2016 she graduated from Brown Mackie College with an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science, specializing in Veterinary Technology and she hasn’t looked back! Kelsie has a huge heart for animals and she treats our patients like they’re her own. She is a very special part of our CCPH Team! Christina Place Our boarding team-lead, Christina, is the best team-lead in town. She is dedicated and passionate about providing wonderful care to our boarding and day play dogs. Her love of animals goes back to her childhood where she was raised on a farm. She even got a pony for Christmas one year! Animals are her passion and Christina believes they all need a voice, a safe environment and loving humans to care for them – that’s what brought her to Cedar Creek Pet Hospital back in early 2019. Christina spends her time outside of work with her husband, daughter, five dogs, and one kitten. Because of her many fur babies, the neighborhood has even nicknamed her Snow White. You can rest assured your pet’s are in great hands with Christina!
